This article is about the earlier IDW reprint series. For later IDW reprint series, see The Transformers Classics. For a list of other meanings, see Classics (disambiguation).
Classic Transformers Volume 1

From 2008 to 2010, IDW Publishing reprinted old issues from the original Marvel G1 comic in full-color trade paperback omnibuses with a cover price of $19.99. Each volume collects a sequential series of issues, with text summaries by Stuart Denyer replacing those issues featuring Marvel-owned characters such as Spider-Man or Circuit Breaker.

In 2011, after the reprint series was finished, IDW published under the Classic Transformers banner digital single copies of the first 16 issues of the Marvel US series, excluding issues 3 and 9 (which featured Marvel-owned characters). IDW created a separate website (now defunct) for these issues, and they remained available at IDW's digital comics store and digital comics retailers such as Google Play and Comixology.

In 2009, a CD-ROM collection was released in collaboration with Graphic Imaging Technology, collecting issues #1–29, minus any comics with Marvel owned characters.

In volume 5, Marvel gave permission to reprint issues with Circuit Breaker. Why they denied permission for earlier volumes is unknown.
