Beginning in 2023, Transformers Retro is another in a long line of reissue series trying to get toys from the original The Transformers toyline into the hands of kids and collectors, but with a spicy little twist: these original toy molds are presented in decos incredibly accurate to their animated appearances, some for the first time ever!
Transformers Retro toys are exclusive to Walmart and Hasbro Pulse in the United States.
The packaging design for these toys make no reference to "Retro," with that naming only found on Walmart product websites. The first four waves were packaged in The Transformers: The Movie-themed boxes, but wave five made the change to re-creating the vintage-style packaging of the 1984-1985 The Transformers toyline.
