Description
This is Lugnut's signature weapon. When activated, his right arm transforms into a kind of rocket (for lack of a better descriptor.) The elbow area then thrusts out flames building up a great deal of force. Then Lugnut releases the "Fist" and it slams into the ground, striking the weapons ignition-point and activating its explosive payload.
When discharged, a dome of fiery kinetic energy explodes out in all directions covering the whole battlefield, Lugnut's allies included. Lugnut appears to be relatively shielded by his own ability, much like Ratchet with his EMP Generator.
This weapon has proven to be among the top three most dangerous arsenals in Transformers Animated, the other two being Megatron's Fusion cannon, and Ultra Magnus's Lightning Hammer. It always is shown that when (successfully) discharged, it never fails to clear the area, having once decimated the entire Autobot team at once. Lost and Found
However this weapon has a fatal flaw. If the ignition-point is struck before Lugnut is prepared, the weapon will go off in his face sending him flying. He was still repairing himself weeks after such a misfire. Megatron Rising - Part 2
Known Uses
- The first recorded use of this weapon was during Lugnut and Blitzwing's initial assault against Prime and his autobots. After hearing Bumblebee claim to having seen Megatron die Lugnut panicked and in a rage unleashed his Punch. Blitzwing was less than pleased about having been uninformed about this action ahead of time.Lost and Found
- Later, when ordered to retireve Sari's Key, Blitzwing and Lugnut cornered Ratchet. For the second time Lugnut used his Punch to knock Ratchet hard against a building for Blitzwing to finish off.Megatron Rising - Part 1
- Later during an open assault on the Autobots' ship, Lugnut engaged in one-on-one combat with Bulkhead. He prepared to use his Punch a third time to finish off the weaker autobot. However, before he could engage the attack (and finish his speech) Bulkhead used his wrecking-ball to strike the Punch's ignition point and blast Lugnut out of the fight.Megatron Rising - Part 2
- When recovering a fragment of AllSpark energy, Lugnut ended up converting Wreck-Gar (the result of the fragment's energy) to the Decepticons. When Ratchet and Bumblebee tracked Wreck-Gar down, Lugnut prepared to use the Punch...which Wreck-Gar took to be a high-five, and so set the Punch off. The Autobots managed to get clear, but unlike the previous occasion where the Punch was prematurely set off, there were no adverse affects to Lugnut. Garbage In, Garbage Out
Trivia
The Cartoon Network Staff liked the fan name for the Punch; "The Punch of Kill Everything," so much that they may work it into the show. Which would be too cool.[1]
