Megatron's goal to purge Cybertron of all that was organic. This goal seemed obtainable, despite the Maximals' interference, through the use of the Key to Vector Sigma. Said key could transform all organic matter into technomatter via a beam produced from its end. Using the key to this effect proved to be extremely painful, insanity inducing, and possibly fatal when used against technorganic transformers. Similarly, when the vines the Maximals were farming deep beneath Cybertron's surface were turned into technomatter, they became lifeless metallic rods. Presumably, using the key on Cybertron's organic core would cause it to crystallize.
