The Omega Formation is a military tactic from the Transformers Animated continuity family.
A crappy end to a well composed plan

While it's unclear if the Omega Formation is a general Autobot tactic or just something that Optimus Prime's team have worked out in advance, the general gist of the plan appears to be:

  1. Bumblebee distracts the target by firing on them with his stingers.
  2. Bulkhead hurls Prowl, who kicks the target off their feet.
  3. Ratchet pins the target to the ground with his electromagnets.
  4. Optimus Prime... does something, probably involving his axe.

In a hurry to finish off Blitzwing so they could get back to base and help Sari, Optimus ordered up the Omega Formation. Bumblebee ineffectually zapped Blitzwing with his stingers, Bulkhead performed a Prowl-doken, and Ratchet was grabbed from behind and made a hostage.

Needless to say, only Blitzwing was particularly happy with the result. Sari, No One's Home
