- The purple generic drones are.... purple generic drones, from the live-action film series continuity family.

The purple generic drones are part of the Fallen's regrouped army, able to transform into jets. While they may just be drones, they've got some intelligence. Enough intelligence to be worth Starscream giving a motivational speech to!
Man, intelligence sucks.
Fiction
Titan Magazines
Massing on Cybertron, the drones carried out a series of training manoeuvres with each other and massive missile batteries while waiting for their orders. Eventually, Starscream gave them a speech claiming that soon... they'll join the battle in earnest! New empire, Solar harvester, blah blah blah...

One of the drones then spotted Skids and Mudflap spying on the speech (I guess it got bored and started looking at other things). The drone hordes were ordered to eliminate these witnesses, but other than getting one shot on Mudflap they pretty much failed to do anything except be blown up. Training Day
Trivia
- Simon Furman confirmed them to just be generic drones. [1]
