Yeti are creatures from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Neither mummies nor ninjas.

The legendary Yeti, also known as Abominable Snowmen, are white-furred ape-like creatures created from Cobra-La's experiments. They reside in the deep cavern systems of the Himalayas, where they farm Cobra-La's metal-eating fungus.

While ferocious, Yeti are fairly intelligent and even have their own language.

Fiction

G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

When Cosmos and Firewall traveled to Tibet, the Yeti kidnapped Firewall and chained her up to be sacrificed by Cobra-La. A large group of Yeti later attacked Flint and Joe Colton when they stumbled upon the metal-eating fungus, and threatened to use the humans' skulls as soup bowls. The creatures were driven off when Cosmos arrived and provided additional firepower, and Colton used his knowledge of the Yeti language to interrogate one of them into telling him where Firewall was.
