The name or term "Shockwave" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Shockwave (disambiguation).
Shockwave is a Decepticon from the TransTech continuity.
Cuts people open. For SCIENCE!

Shockwave is a morally ambiguous being who works in the Menacing and Foreboding Sciences Division of the Axiom Nexus military. He's backed up by an army of completely silent soldiers. He's a very serious-minded figure who dissects people for the greater good, under the command of Megatron.

Megatron first enlisted Shockwave as a prisoner of war, after the defeat of Shockwave's former master, Jhiaxus, in the aftermath of the "Liege Maximo incident." During these early years, Shockwave singlehandedly forged Cybertronian technological advances, but darkly. It was for these war crimes that Shockwave was almost executed, had Megatron not interceded. Though decidedly amoral, Shockwave and his talents could be extremely useful if directed properly.[1]

He never wants to speak of his traumatic encounter with the beings from the Malgus Cluster again.

"Oh, you are evil!"
"No. I'm morally ambiguous."
Optimus Prime and Shockwave, "Bee in the City"

Fiction

TransTech

Voice actor: Chris Ho (English)

When Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Sari Sumdac arrived in the TransTech dimension, Shockwave arrested Optimus and Sari for being a Prime and having a MacGuffin, respectively, which are forbidden in Axiom Nexus. He apprehended Sari's key for a while until Bumblebee, Flareup, and "Joe" came to the rescue. However, "Joe" was actually Megatron, who was planning to steal the key and use it for his own twisted purposes.

After being defeated by Megatron and his army, helping the others defeat Megatron by telling the army the downsides of Cybertronian life, and giving Sari back her key, Shockwave used his proper authority to return the Malgus trio to their own dimension and swore to never speak of this again! Bee in the City

Never RSVP to this guy's parties.

Shockwave's attention was drawn to three targets of interest that had been drawn to Axiom Nexus. The three were assigned to Alpha Trion's care, and while the group walked through the city, Shockwave's goons grabbed one of them, Breakaway. Transcendent: Part 1 Breakaway soon found himself in Shockwave's lab, strapped to a table with his communicators disabled. As Commander Megatron approached, Shockwave assured his victim that his suffering would benefit his people. Transcendent: Part 2

Soon Senator Ratbat came to observe, as he was worried about the legalities of this operation. Shockwave noted that Breakaway's physiology presented unimaginable learning possibilities, and that his death, though regrettable, was an acceptable price to pay. Transcendent: Part 3

But Alpha Trion, his acolytes, and the two other targets-of-interest had other ideas. They ambushed the Transwarp Complex and quickly and violently made their way into Shockwave's lab. Though Shockwave's preparations for his experiments on Breakaway were not complete, Megatron ordered the scientist into battle. Transcendent: Part 5

Shockwave ended up facing off against the giant Immorticon, and fared very poorly in the match-up. Megatron was able to render assistance by blasting Immorticon into oblivion, but not before Shockwave suffered a great deal of crushing and removal of body parts. Transcendent: Part 6

Notes

Who knew evil morally ambiguous scientists transform into super-cool dragsters!
