Vaults

The Vaults is a building on Cybertron from the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Vaults are Iacon's archives, located in the High Council Pavilions. Data from all over Cybertron is collected there, analyzed and sorted by the archivists, stored onto "cassettes" and finally put away by drones for future use.

Dreamwave Generation 1 comics

About 8.2 million years ago, Optronix used to work as data archivist at the Vaults. At the time of the fall of Altihex, he was visited at work by his friend Bluestreak, who had recently joined the Autobot army. Bluestreak went on about the stories surrounding the death of Sentinel Prime and rise of Megatron until Optronix pointed out that those stories were demonstrably exaggerated if not plain false, that in either case he as archivist had already heard it all before Bluestreak even had walked in, and that he was busy. Bluestreak was lightly baffled by this reaction, but conceded that someone like Optronix, who stayed far away from the combat to handle anonymous data, was not likely to understand the severity of the recent civil conflict. Transformers: Prime

In his quest to get the Omega Key needed to unlock the Omega Gate that would allow entry into the Core of Cybertron, Megatron along with his Decepticons laid siege to Iacon itself. Their initial attack managed to enter into a meditation chamber where the Key usually resided but it was taken by Zeta Prime into the Vaults for safe keeping. This forced Megatron along with Brawl and Breakdown to bypass parts of the city in order to breach the Vaults themselves where Zeta Prime drew upon its near limitless power to defeat Megatron. Despite his efforts, Zeta Prime was defeated and Megatron managed to obtain the Omega Key. Transformers: War for Cybertron
