Concerned by the mysterious appearance of giant chew marks on the trees in his forest, Jeff called the Autobots, who sent Spike, Beachcomber, Hound and Bumblebee to investigate. Jeff led them to the chewed trees, and Beachcomber swiftly diagnosed the problem as a case of Insecticons. Although Jeff was skeptical, a short time later, Mike radioed him to report that giant robotic insects were chewing on the redwoods.
The Autobots rolled out to investigate, only to encounter Mike coming the other way at speed, rambling about giant monsters. They were fired on by the Insecticons and tried to escape, only to have the Insecticons roll a felled tree at them. Fortunately, with the aid of one of Hound's holograms, they were able to escape. The Autobots left for the Nova Power Plant, leaving Jeff and Mike to make their own way back. The Insecticon Syndrome
