- The Obliterators are a subgroup from the Generation 1 and Generation 2 portions of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Obliterators are a cross-factional subgroup in charge of powerful artillery platforms that transform into the back halves of their alternate modes. Oddly, there's only one member of the subgroup on each side—the Autobots have Pyro while the Decepticons have Clench. With an ominous name like "Obliterators", maybe they're both powerful enough to be considered one-man armies.

IDW comics continuity
Clench organized gladiator matches in Kaon until Megatron killed him and took over his business. Megatron Origin #2
As for Pyro, he joined up with the Wreckers, where his new cohorts (Rotorstorm in particular) were quick to point out his resemblance to Optimus Prime. Last Stand of the Wreckers #1 In trying to come up with a motto for the Wreckers, he even suggested a poor knock-off of Optimus Prime's catchphrase. Last Stand of the Wreckers #2
Wings of Honor
Pyro and Clench were amongst the "second generation" of Transformers who were created in cyberfactories on Earth after the rebirth of Cybertron. Clench quickly turned to a life of crime, forming a Decepticon Syndicate with him in charge, and Pyro and the other G2 Autobots opposed them.
Aided by Quintesson troops, Clench attempted to capture the Large Hadron Collider and use forestonite to give himself and his men superpowers. Pyro was captured while fighting against them, but ultimately Clench's plans fell through. While he did get the power to create gravity wells, the Autobots managed to obtain forestonite abilities themselves and chased him and his Decepticons off. Pyro himself gained limited precognition abilities. Generation 2: Redux
Toys
Generation 1

- The Obliterators were first sold in the "transitional" period of Transformers in European markets, using Generation 1-style packaging but Generation 2-style faction symbols. The robots only transform into the front half of vehicles; their main gimmick is their missile-launching battle platforms, which transform into the vehicles' back halves and combine with the robot halves.
Generation 2
- When the actual Generation 2 was launched, the Obliterators were released in new packaging with new names. The toys themselves are identical to their previous release.
