Synopsis

Megacycles before what is to become the Great Exodus, the Lightning Strike Coalition, under Grimlock's command, discover via brutal strike missions that the Decepticons have tapped more energon resources. Swoop, sent on a covert mission to investigate this and Shockwave's probable involvement, worryingly disappears. When the other four Coalition members learn that Swoop has been captured by Shockwave via an encrypted message, they disobeyed direct orders and go after him themselves...

• The Lightning Strike Coalition appear in bodies nearly identical to their Dinobot forms (though featuring more vehicular parts), despite this story taking place directly before the events of the game (in which Sludge is seen to have a very different, pre-dinosaur mode).
