Revision as of 08:17, 7 April 2013

This article is about the weapon from Fall of Cybertron. For the experimental Decepticon cannon, see Pathblaster.

The Path Blaster is a semi-automatic weapon that fires dense packets of molten metal with a good deal of accuracy. There are a number of common modifications to the basic model, perhaps none so remarkable as the so-called "Gambler" upgrade, which inserts an explosive synthetic Destronium round randomly into every magazine.

Fall of Cybertron

Optimus Prime used a Path Blaster as his primary weapon during the final days of the evacuation from Cybertron. The weapons were also commonly carried by Infiltrators. Fall of Cybertron

Toys

Generations

It's huge, but it probably won't explode and kill him. Probably.
  • Sideswipe (Deluxe, 2012)
Part of the third wave of 2012 Generations Deluxe Class toys, Fall of Cybertron Sideswipe is an extensive retool of Fall of Cybertron Jazz, and includes an inordinately large new-mold "battle cannon" that's modeled after the Path Blaster. It has 5mm posts for the handle and on its side, has a spinning, ratcheting drum, and features a barrel that one can extend/retract just by pulling/pushing it out/in until it clicks into place. In an undocumented feature, the blaster can mount at an angle onto his vehicle rear, with the back of the blaster sliding into the spoiler.

Notes

  • The rifle has the following base in-game stats:
    • Damage: 8
    • Range: 5
    • Accuracy: 6
    • Rate of Fire: 6
    • Max Load: 50
    • Per Mag: 10
  • The "Gambler" upgrade is one of many, many references in Fall of Cybertron, in this case to the episode "The Gambler".
  • At BotCon 2012, developer High Moon Studios stated that "Optimus Prime's weapon" was designed to look like an earlier version of the rifles he wields in the Transformers: Prime series.
