The Howling Wastes are an area of Junkion plagued by ionized acid rain storms and covered in the wreckages of old starships.

During his exile on Junkion, Megatron was caught in a storm in the Howling Wastes, forcing him to take cover inside one of the crashed ships. Inside he met a Quintesson named Pentius who had been trapped there for hundreds of years, and enslaved him to act as his guide to Junkion. Faces of Darkness
