Deployer (BM)

The Deployers are a subgroup of Maximals from the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Deployers were a group of ancient task drones found by Nightscream in the depths of Cybertron. They are presumed to have been reformatted by the Oracle. Though they lack sparks, they each seem to have their own personalities. The group consists of Dillo, Mol, and Rav.

Fiction

Universe: The Wreckers

Having recently been discovered by Nightscream, the Deployers were escorting the young Maximal and Optimus Primal back to their hidden base when they were stopped cold by a squad of Vehicon Tank Drones. Things looked grim for the group until Ramulus, Primal Prime, and Apelinq arrived and saved them. The whole group then journeyed underground, where the Oracle gave the gathered Cybertronians their tasks. The shifty Maximal Packrat convinced the Deployers to join up with the Wreckers crew.

The Deployers took part in the later battle for the Autobot shuttle that would take the Wreckers off-planet, fighting through hundreds of Vehicon drones. However, once they were on board and off-planet, the Deployers, Spittor, and Sonar were battered insensible by a stowaway, the bounty hunter Devcon. Departure

Things didn't get much better for them, as an act of sabotage by Cyclonus sent explosions rocking through the ship. The section the Deployers, Spittor, and Sonar were in was jettisoned by Packrat, leaving the five to die a fiery death in deep space. Betrayal

The Deployers are Basic-scale toys that auto-transform from animals into weapons with firing missiles.

Later on, the Deployers were given running change redecos, though their packaging was not altered in any way to reflect this change. According to store listings, these redecos were originally supposed to have new names, though these plans were changed for unknown reasons.

Notes

• The Deployers and Beast Riders were developed by Hasbro Direct, a now-defunct extra branch of Hasbro that handled... "extra" parts of Hasbro's action figure lines, such as the 12-inch Star Wars figures (where the main branch made the 3 3/4-inch figures).
