- The S.T.A.R.S. membership card is an item from the S.T.A.R.S. continuity portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The S.T.A.R.S. membership card is given to new recruits into the Secret Transformers Autobot Rescue Squad. It sports a "magical" changing picture[1] and is encoded with data that allows its holder entry into the Command Center inside the Autobot Refueling and Weapons Armory. However, once inside, he or she must still pass a voiceprint/handprint identifier; failure to do so will leave him or her trapped in the hatchway and subject to stun-radiation.[2]
As with other S.T.A.R.S. merchandise, this item breaks the fourth wall a little. In actuality, it is the membership card for the Transformers fanclub, but it also represents an item used by the Autobots' human allies in the fiction.
Merchandise
Generation 1

- S.T.A.R.S. membership card (1985)
- The S.T.A.R.S. membership card was included with the kit sent to those who joined the S.T.A.R.S. fanclub. On the front side, an image of Omega Supreme with an Autobot symbol alternates with an image of Astrotrain with a Decepticon symbol, depending on the angle of view. On the back side, the S.T.A.R.S. member can write his or her name and address.
Notes
- The fact that the S.T.A.R.S. membership card can switch to a Decepticon symbol as well as an Autobot one is curious. Considering that a Transformer's Autobot sigil has been seen to be encoded with verification data in the Marvel UK comic "(Double) Deal of the Century!", perhaps the S.T.A.R.S. card likewise contains counterfeit Decepticon codes.
- A commercial for the "Prizes in Disguise" contest shows Spike Witwicky and an unknown friend wearing reflective patches to gain entry to an Autobot base.[3] These patches were available as a toy pack-in promotion, and though they were unrelated to S.T.A.R.S., the similarity in concept is notable.
