Lad Pioneers is an organization for young lads to teach them the finer points of camping and knot tying. Cody Burns is a member of the Griffin Rock Lad Pioneer troop and owns a copy of the Lad Pioneers Handbook. Given the book is the 1959 edition, it's likely other members of his family were Lad Pioneers as well.

Chase found the Lad Pioneers Handbook and used knowledge from it to save Heatwave, Boulder and Blades. Rules and Regulations

The Griffin Rock Lad Pioneer troop practiced for an annual celebration on Founders' Day. After Cody and the Bots became stranded on an uninhabited island, Cody used his Lad Pioneer knowledge to build a shelter and start a fire.
