On Cybertron under the rule of the Functionist Council, Transformers are assigned a class according to their alternate mode, in this case, space-capable forms. Relatively high on the on the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy, members of the astro class such as the Lunabots have traditionally been exempt from the Functionist Council's purges.
