A transportation mode is an extra mode specialized for transportation, above and beyond the normal vehicle mode or beast mode. The transportation mode usually features vehicle parts, such as wheels, wings, rotors, or a surfboard.
Toys
Generation 1

- Tracks possesses a "flight mode".

- Overdrive has a third mode that sure looks like it is supposed to be able to fly even though the instructions call it an "armored car" and the "wings" are called simply "back flaps."
Beast Wars
Almost all of the Transmetal characters have a transportation mode. It's sometimes referred to as flying mode, flight mode, or vehicle mode. (Or, if you're Rattrap, Knievel mode.)
The following Transmetal characters have a transportation mode:

- Airazor
- Depth Charge
- Megatron (both Transmetal and Transmetal 2 forms)
- Optimus Primal / Optimal Optimus
- Rampage
- Rattrap
- Rhinox
- Scavenger
- Terrorsaur
- Waspinator
The following characters have a vehicle mode:
In addition to the "transportation mode", Inferno has a "flying mode". Optimal Optimus has two transportation modes, called "Hypersonic Attack Mode" and "Ground Assault Mode".
Cybertron
Optimus Prime has a flight mode.
Generations
Cybertronian Megatron's tank treads convert to hover engines.
