Scavenger (Universe Ultra)

Scavenger is a Decepticon from the 2001 Robots in Disguise continuity family (via the 2003 Universe toyline).

"QUICK, LOOK OVER THERE."

Scavenger is one of four Decepticons who combine into the mighty Devastator. He felt inferior to his teammates, and was desperate for their approval. He would constantly put himself at risk to search for valuable salvage or energy or technology.

Scavenger was created when the Build Hurricane of Viron 704.31 Epsilon was reformatted by Megazarak's Robo-Smasher. The Build Team was ego-wiped and implanted with shell programs drawn from old Predacon personality components. On the eve of an important battle, members of both sides of the war, including the Constructicons, were snatched away by Unicron to participate in the Universe War. Ask Vector Prime

A redeco of 2001 Robots in Disguise Grimlock, Scavenger transforms into an excavator. His digger-arm can plug into his back, or theoretically be used as a hand-held weapon. He can form both arms (simultaneously) or either leg to the team's combined super robot mode. However, he looks absolutely gimpy as a leg, so...

He was available only in a Target-exclusive 2-pack with Bonecrusher.

Notes

• Bonecrusher/Scavenger's set, as well as the other two (Hightower/Long Haul and Overbite/Repugnus) was originally slated for the normal retail Universe line, sent to pre-release limbo for a while with the cancellation of that line, then finally released as one of three Target-exclusive Ultra sets considerably later.
