Storm Rider is a Waruder mech from the Diaclone continuity family.
Fight on, grab on! Stormrider! Stormrider!

The multitude of Waruder marauder drones can be summed into four types, one of them being Storm Rider, which is assigned to the Crusher pilots. While each type has its own specialty, they all have the same goal: Swarm, consume, and bring consumed metals back to the Waruder apiary. The marauder drones are merely technorganic shells that serve as the host for their smaller pilots and lack intelligence of their own. But one still should not be caught unawares, as the venom from their stingers affects the organic and the technological alike, numbing nervous systems and causing paralysis.

The drones can wield their pilots in their weapon modes, but this risks disconnecting pilot from shell.

TransTech

Due to quantum instability, a number of Waruder troops were transported to Axiom Nexus's distant past when they migrated over to its universe. They formed a hive, and spent the next 20, 000 years undisturbed, evolving and building an elaborate hive deep underground. Storm Rider exo-suits were grown to help the hive expand and feed, as well as defend itself against intruders. When C-81 and his band of wanted criminals stumbled across the Waruder hive while on the run from the law, A Storm Rider mech was the first Waruder they encountered. The Waruder attacked Oilmaster, only for C-81 to counterattack by hitting it with his mace. Outnumbered, the Waruder soldier alerted more of its kind to the intruders, and the hive began to fight back in full force. Even as more intruders came about, the Waruders were on the verge of victory when C-81 managed to grab hold of their leader, and forced him to negotiate. Several Storm Rider mechs later migrated to another universe via an interuniversal gate, one where the Waruders would be able to feed on Cybertronium in peace. Cybertron's Most Wanted

Toys

Timelines

  • Waruder Marauders (BotCon 2015)
    • Accessories: stinger/gun
Storm Rider is a black, blue, gray and red redeco of the Generations Deluxe Class Waspinator sculpt. He retains the original toy's wing-beating gimmick.
Storm Rider was available in a four-pack at BotCon 2015 that included the three other Waruder mechs (Paralyzer, Parasite and Mudfighter) as well as the four Waruder troops (Buzzer, Ripper, Thrasher and Crusher). He can wield any of the four Waruder troops in their weapon modes, but is nominally associated with the Crusher toy.

Notes

  • Storm Rider's color scheme is based on the Diaclone Warudaros toy. Like Storm Rider, Warudaros represents a mech used by the Waruder forces.
