The Coda Remote was a device created by A-3 eleven million years ago to disable the Dark Guardians and enable the Quintessons' slaves to rise up against their masters.

The Transformers cartoon
During the slaves' attack on the Quintesson-occupied Hive City, the Dark Guardians had the rebels and several time-displaced Autobots surrounded. A-3 returned from his own time displacement to the year 2006 and used the Remote, which was actually the golden Autobot symbol on his own chest.
