The Contrivance Engine is a machine developed by Brainstorm in his time aboard the Lost Light. It presumably makes weird things happen.
Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
At some point prior to December 24th, Brainstorm designed and built the Contrivance Engine. It made the Lost Light look all Christmas-y, making the cloaking machine look suspiciously similar to a mechanical pine tree, and its boosters to resemble Christmas ornaments.
