| Vain Train was one of a six-bot crew returning to [[Gobotron]] after a lengthy scouting expedition, one launched shortly after the Gobot conversion process was implemented. [[Scorp]] and Crain Brain, flying in [[Space Hawk]] interceptors, observed them and Cy-Kill was able to capture the crew, though [[Apollo (GoBots)|one escaped]]. The Renegades learned about a strategically important planet they had discovered, as well as Vain Train's strained relationship with his [[Bullet (GoBots)|elder brother]]. Cy-Kill used his mind-control abilities to exacerbate his brother's worst tendencies, thus pushing Vain Train into the Renegade camp.
