Renegade Rhetoric

According to Cy-Kill, the Last Engineer was a war criminal who was part of the Guardians' original scheme to render Gobotron uninhabitable with a massive asteroid collision, the Guardians being saved by conversion into cyborg "GoBot" forms. Rather than face a Renegade trial for his crimes, the Last Engineer went into hiding, with his archnemesis the Master Renegade sequestering himself on Antares III in order to confront his adversary once again in the future.

The Last Engineer also created Courageous, a combiner made from his ship and four Power Suits. Ask Vector Prime

Timelines

When Treds accidentally blew Nebulon up, he swore by the Engineer, unaware that Nebulon was in fact a drone and not actually alive. High Noon

Ask Vector Prime

In an unstable Iocus reality created by the machinations of Sideways and Gong, GoBots were mixed into the events of the Unicron War. In this version of history, the Last Engineer had died some time prior to 2005. After Leader-1 was fatally wounded by Megatron during the Battle of Guardian City, Tail Pipe stated that if the Last Engineer were still around, then perhaps Leader-1 could be saved.
