The War of the Worlds is a book written by H.G. Wells that was released in 1898. It is a story about a Martian invasion of Earth. This is obviously preposterous conjecture that no human should take seriously.

Notes
- The character Theodore Joseph Wells was (last) named after the author of The War of the Worlds.
- The War of the Worlds was such a success that many adaptations of it have been made. In the context of Transformers, the most notable is the original radio adaption, directed and narrated by Orson Welles—the original voice of Unicron.
- The premise of the Rescue Bots episode "The Alien Invasion of Griffin Rock" is heavily based upon the public panic that followed the broadcast of the aforementioned radio adaptation. Likewise, Crustaceans from the Cosmos serves as an in-universe analogue, having been broadcast around the same time with a similar-sounding announcer, exhibiting a similar effect on its listeners.
