Furmanite is a substance from the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Furmanite, or anti-energon, is a substance that repels energon at low doses. In higher quantities, it can cause planet-shattering explosions if it comes in contact with energon. Furmanite can be infused into a Transformer's infrastructure to create energon armor.

Fiction

3H comics

Seeking to discover a way to safeguard against energon overload while in robot mode, Fractyl developed a substance he called furmanite on prehistoric Earth. After Fractyl successfully tested its energon-shielding properties, Packrat stole the furmanite; in the chaos, it was discovered to be anti-energon when shards of furmanite explosively reacted with pure energon.

The furmanite was infused into Packrat's structure, and he threatened the planet by travelling into the Badlands, an energon-rich area. Despite some reluctance and arrogance, Packrat allowed the furmanite to be siphoned from his body when he was convinced by Rhinox to do so. Ground Zero

Of Masters and Mayhem

While Alpha Bravo plotted to assassinate of his fellow Wreckers to prevent the reformation of Wreckage, he noted that Fractyl's Furmanite armor was capable of deflection to an unknown degree. Deadly Aim
