The Invisibility Factor
Galvatron's Decepticons built a prototype ship equipped with neuron beams and invisibility capabilities. It was sent out on a test flight in a desert on Earth, only for it to break down. But when none of the other Autobots believed Kup and Hot Rod's story about a disappearing spacecraft, the Decepticons were able to retrieve the ship, perfect it, and build a whole fleet to devastate the Autobot city of Metroplex, and all those within.
