The Divided Self Later Ratchet confessed to Minimus that he had always known Minimus's secret and when probed further, remarked that attention deflectors "work for all of five seconds" and that he was insulted that Minimus thought he'd be fooled. The Sound of Breaking Glass
Brainstorm claims that Ravage blends in so well because he wears hundreds of nanoscopic attention deflectors. The Sensuous Frame
Notes
- The attention deflector works in a very similar way to the perception filter from Doctor Who, which itself works in a suspiciously similar way to the Somebody Else's Problem Field from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The attention deflector is most likely an homage to the former as author James Roberts is a noted fan of Doctor Who, while having not read the Hitchhiker's books.
- One has to wonder if Rung keeps a few on his person: he is never realized by name when conscious, and others talk as if he isn't there.
