- The Infinite is a Transformer from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The mysterious experimental Transformers code-named "Infinites" represent the next evolution in the development of the Transformer race: composed of specially engineered sentio metallico, they possesses the ability to naturally assume millions of alternate modes, and massive self-repair facilities, able to heal themselves back from death.

The Infinites were designed by Scorponok (a.k.a. the "Grand Architect"), a Decepticon who had always had an eye on potential future evolutions for the Transformer race. He began his experiments centuries ago, hiring blacksmiths to procure samples of sentio metallico for him to work with, but his work ground to a halt when he was arrested by Ultra Magnus for other offenses. Escaping incarceration under unknown circumstances, Scorponok resumed his work, employing Flame and others as enforcers, and establishing facilities scattered across the galaxy, each maintained by affiliates he employed to tend the embryonic Infinites as they grew within their "birthing pods." An Axe to Break the Ice Chasing the Infinite Success eluded him for some time, as one by one, his facilities failed; circumstances resulted in the decommissioning of the ward on Corritan, but when an attempt was made to relocate its Infinite stock, contamination resulted in the loss of the entire batch. This actively set the timetable back, so when Demus, custodion of the Tebris VII ward, was killed, the stock there was simply aborted, rather than risk a repeat. Chasing the Infinite Animals
But even as his avenues of potential success narrowed, Scorponok received word that Mengel had successfully brought an Infinite to term in her ward on Troja Major. His men took custody of the new lifeform, but while escorting it to their ship, Chasing the Infinite it escaped and took refuge in a funereal compound, disguising itself as a coffin. It remained there until Lug and Anode discovered it while tracking the smell of "unnatural" sentio metallico. The startled robot transformed to confront them, but collapsed from exhaustion, being little more than a week old. Unfortunately, all this activity attracted the attention of the anti-Transformer Black Block Consortia, and the aliens opened fire on the robot and killed it. An Axe to Break the Ice The Consortia took the Infinite's remains, but its self-repair abilities restored it to life. Subsequently, Flame and his team re-acquired the Infinite from the Consortia, and took it back to Scorponok, who was delighted to learn that it was a complete success. Chasing the Infinite
