Sideswipe's spark was part of the first post-war generation birthed from the Alyon hot spot, Redemption before the sparks were absorbed by the Titan Trypticon to grow properly. Salvation
Some time later, some protoforms had begun to form, Sideswipe among them. When Arcee trailed Sludge, Sideswipe jumped the former from behind only to be quickly overpowered. The perceived threat to his life caused Trypticon to stir. Once the surface situation had calmed down, Arcee introduced Sideswipe to Optimus Prime and affectionatly named him after her recently-departed friend. The Dead Come Home, Part 2
