Megatronus reveals his goals and makes his move.

Synopsis

A shot from the Requiem Blaster rings out, carving a trench across Cybertron. In the ruins of the Athenaeum Sanctorum, the heroes look on as Megatron depowers the gun, with no remaining trace of Overlord to be found. Megatron tells Windblade that her debt has been paid by saving him from Rodimus Cron, who now lies twitching on the ground. He thanks Optimus Primal for the blaster, who in turn thanks Windblade for setting him straight when he tried to run. As Grimlock pulls Megatron into a big hug, Windblade mourns the loss of Victorion. Perceptor arrives and reveals that the battle destroyed almost all of the data in the Sanctorum, with the scientist only able to download a fraction of it. Using what data he gathered, he posits that Megatronus plans to use the Enigma of Combination to fuse the Matrix of Leadership and the Requiem Blaster into a doomsday device, with Megatron believing it could drain the spark from every Transformer in the universe.

As if on cue, Megatronus appears, claiming his plan is an "act of love", and Megatron realizes his endgame has always been to resurrect Solus Prime. Before Megatron can fire the blaster, Megatronus swoops in and knocks him away, causing him to drop the blaster. Primal moves to defend it, but Megatronus fells him and Grimlock. Before he can finish the guardian off, Rodimus stands up again, the spirit of Unicron possessing him, and he declares the Matrix must be destroyed. With a single blast, Megatronus knocks everyone away and grabs the gun, blasting off to put the final steps of his plan into motion. Windblade attempts to chase him, but he proves too fast, and she falls to the ground in despair as Rodimus speeds off after him.

Grimlock suggests just letting the two villains kill one another, but Windblade insists that Hot Rod is still inside Cron somewhere. She is outnumbered, however, as the others concur that Rodimus may have to die to ensure their race's survival. Megatron suggests they head to the Well of Sparks, created from Solus after her destruction, the coordinates of which they learn from the Sanctorum's data. Windblade suggests Megatron lead them there, but he is reluctant to take charge of a suicide mission. Windblade insists, saying that he has led them well up to this point, and he finally acquiesces as the five march onward towards the rising sun.
