After defeating Deathsaurus, Megatron makes his move on the Autobots.
Synopsis
Having returned to base, the Elite Guardsmen wonder why the Gyronian Sentry Team has not arrived with the Combaticon prisoners yet. The reason becomes clear when Dion makes an inquiry and they discover the Sentry Team has been AWOL for the last decacycle.
Deathsaurus is chained up in his former throne room, now converted into a gladiatorial area in which Megatron intends to prove he is a worthy Decepticon leader by defeating Deathsaurus in single combat. Despite not even being allowed to have his injuries repaired, Deathsaurus initially puts up a decent fight and points out that most of Megatron's men are brainwashed and therefore won't care who wins. Megatron responds that Deathsaurus's Combaticons weren't even interested in helping their former leader. Moments later, Deathsaurus lies defeated, and a victorious Megatron begins giving orders to his men. Starscream is content to follow Megatron's orders for now, but knows someday he'll take his rightful place as Decepticon leader. Deathsaurus, left lying severely damaged but functional, tells Lyzack that they must flee Cybertron.
A week later, Magnum apologizes to Optimus Prime for his competitive behavior. The two resolve to combine their forces to protect the planet, however just then Dion runs up with the news that the combined Decepticon army has arrived at the edge of the city. Even as the Autobots prepare the defenses, the Decepticons break through the defense shields, thanks to their new secret weapon, Devastator.

Notes
- Characters mentioned but not seen include: the Combaticons, Hook, and Alpha Trion.
Continuity notes
- Megatron uses his Energon mace, seen in "More than Meets the Eye, Part 2".
- Megatron has the Combaticons stripped down to their personality components and imprisoned, setting up events for "Starscream's Brigade", millions of years later.
- The Constructicons are given the ability to combine into Devastator this issue, using schematics of Bruticus from Deathsaurus' files. Evidently, this places their betrayal of Omega Supreme in Transformers episode "The Secret of Omega Supreme" in the one week gap seen in this issue. Hook is noted to be leader of the Constructicons; he was previously established as a separate Decepticon warlord in "A Team Effort", and was presumably brainwashed along with the others in-between the meetings of the Decepticon Warlords seen in that story.
- Speaking of Constructicons, Hauler shows up among the Autobot forces in Iacon, having previously only shown up in "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1". His e-HOBBY toy bio depicted him as being a former Constructicon, having been one of the few to escape the effects of the Robosmasher, and next issue's profile would confirm had happened to this version of Hauler as well. Another green Decepticon is seen alongside Devastator, which you might infer makes him the eight Constructicon who helped build Megatron in "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4", but next issues profile for Devastator would retcon those 8 into being a different group of 7 Constructicons.
Transformers references
- Megatron shouts "Deathsaurus has fallen! I, Megatron, am now ruler of all Decepticons!" This homages Starscream's frequent attempts to usurp power in the original Transformers cartoon, often by shouting "Megatron has fallen!"
- Among the generics Decepticons in the stands watching Deathsaurus and Megatron's fight are generics colored as Cybertron Signal Lancer and Evan Gauntt's fan character Stage-Dive on page 2, and Misfire and Ramjet on page 3.
- Hauler is drawn here based on his toy, rather then the straight copy of Grapple he was depicted as in the original cartoon.
