Twenty thousand years ago, the 'bot who would become "Shockwave" was one of a number of Eukarians under the command the command of Domitius Major aboard the starship Axalon. Sent on a deep-space mission by Onyx Prime to locate the Enigma of Combination, Strange Visitors Centurion profile depleting fuel sources sent their vessel off-course in the hopes of finding new energon, and eventually they chanced across Ice Age Earth.
As they approached the planet, however, they attracted the attention of Shockwave, who had come to Earth to investigate his Regenesis project. The Decepticon scientist shot down their vessel, and, in the crash, the Talisman aboard the Axalon scrambled the memories of the crew. Their subsequent amnesia inspired Shockwave to use the crew of the Axalon in a cruel experiment, altering their appearances and memories to convince them that they were the Autobots and Decepticons of Cybertron. Remade into a doppelganger of their tormentor, the brainwashed "Shockwave" took part in the simulated "Ice Age Wars" on Earth as part of the real Shockwave's wargames. Eventually, the climate worsened and the energon stores ran out, and when the real Shockwave departed, the ersatz Autobots and Decepticons went into hibernation. Strange Visitors

The Eukarian Decepticons awoke in the late 1860s after human activity roused them from their slumber. "Shockwave" took the form of an ironclad warship and, claiming to be a benefactor for humanity, proposed an alliance with disgraced inventor Tobias Muldoon. "Shockwave" survived the encounter and eventually returned to his own senses. As his comrades slowly ran out of fuel and died, "Shockwave" was soon left as one of the last Eukarians on Earth by the time of World War II. Hiding out in France, he was eventually challenged by "Bumblebee." Their battle was devastating, but the yellow Autobot managed to kill his foe and take his Gatling gun arm as a trophy. The body of "Shockwave" was later recovered by Garrison Kreiger as part of his quest to learn more about the Talisman and the Cybertronians that had brought it to Earth. Puppeteered by a horde of interlocked IRON Troopers, "Shockwave" became part of the base's security system alongside a similarly reanimated Domitius Major. Both of the "I.R.O.N. Cybertronians" were deployed to stop Action Man after he and his compatriots broke into the base. Action Man succeeded in flooding a tunnel and washing them away. They recovered just in time to briefly tangle with the Thunderhawk and Shark before Atomic Man committed suicide, severing the link between himself and the IRON Troopers and permanently taking them offline.
