Founded in 1996 by Kevin Czinger, Volcano Entertainment was originally a continuation of Zoo Entertainment, and so focused on releasing albums by former Zoo artists such as Tool. However, in 1998, Volcano Entertainment acquired the back catalog of Scotti Bros. Records along with the then-active contract for "Weird Al" Yankovic (which lapsed after 2014's Mandatory Fun). Although the label now primarily focuses on re-releasing older albums, Tool still releases new material on the label.
