Introducing the Decepticons' deadly new weapon—the fly swatter!

Synopsis

These stories do not fit into the normal Marvel continuity. See Earthforce for details.
This comic sponsored by Raid.

The Insecticons have penetrated Shockwave's base. Meanwhile, Starscream is on security duty, despite being second-in-command, and annoyed, thinking that even Megatron treated him better. He rants about how Shockwave recruited him with promises, and now decides to overthrow his leader at the first opportunity. Then he spots the Insecticons on the monitor screen and decides to deal with them himself, first visiting the armoury.

The Insecticons reach the room next to the war room and proceed to eavesdrop on Shockwave, when Starscream enters the room. The Insecticons attack but Starscream first brushes them aside then pulls out a rustbug hoop and swats them all.

Then Starscream releases them, telling them that they have done a good job in discovering Shockwave will be on a solo mission tomorrow. Bombshell knows that the Insecticons can't admit defeat so they have to play along and deduces that Starscream wants Megatron to destroy Shockwave to create a vacuum so he can take over. Starscream confirms this and tells the spies to "Buzz off!"

(Numbers indicate order of appearance.)

Quotes

"Security duty! I don't believe it - me, Starscream - a glorified nightwatchman! So much for second-in-command of this little band of Decepticons! Even Megatron treated me better than this!"

Starscream, complaining as usual.

"Well, well - what have we here? Intruders! The Insecticons! Why would Megatron's tiny spies be here? A social call? Returning a borrowed vid?"

Starscream

"Mmm, tasty! Eh, Bombshell?"
"Yes indeedy, Shrapnel. Not only do we get to listen in on Shockwave's plans...we get lunch!"

Shrapnel and Bombshell on the perks of the job.

"Buzz off!"

This wiki assumes that, as only one cassette-bot was ever seen at a time in Earthforce stories, the originally uncoloured and later block-coloured individual in this story is the same as the mini-cassette named as Rumble in #279 and the individual coloured as Rumble by John-Paul Bove for the The Definitive G1 Collection printing of #270 28 years later.
