The Ark-Zero is one of many numbered Autobot starships designated "Ark", set apart from her sister ships by being the fastest ship in the Cybertronian fleet.

When Unicron began attacking the Cybertronian colonies, Optimus Prime led a team aboard the Ark-Zero to aid in the defense of Elonia, theirs being the only ship capable of reaching the Solstar capital in time to confront the Chaos Bringer. When the Ark-Zero arrived, the crew orbital jumped down to the surface to set up Wheeljack's space bridge pylons and evacuate the Elonians. Once Unicron had consumed the (largely empty) planet, he teleported himself away, leaving the Ark-Zero crew to pick up the straggling Space Knights and brief them on the threat they were facing.
