With Pyro's team held prisoner, Sideswipe snoops around.

Synopsis

Outraged by Jhiaxus' accusations, Pyro defends Optimus Prime, claiming that thousands of worlds would have been destroyed by Megatron without Prime to stop him. Jhiaxus surprises the Autobot, however, when he claims that Megatron is no better, and that Jhiaxus is a new breed of Decepticon, one searching for peace instead of domination. In pursuit of this goal, he has created his clones, both Autobots and Decepticons, a generation without propaganda filling their heads. Noticing that only seven of the eight Autobots are present, Jhaixus has Nightracer track down the missing guest while he continues his speech. Side Burn, infatuated with the Decepticon clone, offers to help her, but Nightracer brushes off his advances. Runamuck suggest he leave her alone, but Side Burn follows Runabout's advice instead, careening down the hallways after her, as the Battlechargers.

Down one of the passages, the three cars brush past Sky-Byte and one of his Sharkticons, angering the Predacon general. The "Sharkticon," meanwhile, sneaks off into a nearby room, and Sideswipe sheds his disguise. Coming upon some tubes holding Cybertronian bodies, Sideswipe is shocked when he realizes one of the bodies shares his face. Unfortunately, the sensors pick up his movement, with Ironhide and Soundwave investigating. Thinking fast, Sideswipe adopts his doppleganger's form, and bursts through the glass, hiding his clone's body off to the side. Assuming that Sideswipe has activated early, Ironhide and Soundwave report to Jhiaxus, who greets his newest "son". Taking Sideswipe to Pyro and the others, Jhiaxus gloats about his progress, while Sideswipe winks at Pyro. Pyro clues in Sideswipe to the radiation field, and the shapeshifting Autobot sprouts a gun, disabling the cell and allowing the Autobots to fight back...

Notes

Continuity notes

Transformers references

  • Sky-Byte recites a haiku, much like his Robots in Disguise counterpart did.
  • Sideswipe's clone is obviously based on his Generation 2 Go-Bot toy. His clone number, 80253, is the assortment number for said toy.

Errors

  • On the first page, the entirety of the words-and-speech-balloons layer is shifted downward, resulting in a bunch of GoBots being covered up in the last panel.
