[[Pyro (G1)|Pyro]] and [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] square off, but Pyro warns [[Aquafend]] not to blast the enemy leader, who has [[Hi-Q]] as hostage. [[Fizzle|Blaze]] bounces his weapon fire off several walls before it hits Jhiaxus in the face with pinpoint precision. Having retrieved the captive [[Nebulan|Nebulon]], Pyro orders everyone out. The Autobots flee as the base explodes, but once outside, they are confronted by the [[Bumblebee (G2)|Bumblebee]], [[Ironhide (G2)|Ironhide]], and [[Mirage (G2)|Mirage]] clones.

His chest panels opening as he falls unconscious, Pyro grabs Hi-Q, and the Autobots evacuate as the lab equipment begins to explode. Unfortunately, [[Bumblebee (G2)|Bumblebee]], [[Ironhide (G2)|Ironhide]], and [[Mirage (G2)|Mirage]] stop them before they can reach their ship.


From a nearby outcropping of rock, [[Nightracer (G2)|Nightracer]] watches the confrontation. [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]] arrives as well, but the sight of the destroyed base sparks his memory, and he finally recalls his past as an Autobot during the war. When he announces he has to leave with the other Autobots, Nightracer reminds him he's a Decepticon now, and that together with the [[Battlecharger]]s, they're a team. Side Burn points out that she's meant to transcend her faction insignia.

The other Autobots are likewise trying to persuade the clones to come with them. When Ironhide asserts that they don't want to be part of any war, Pyro points out that there are plenty of peaceful ways to help the Autobot cause. The Autobots are soon loading onto the shuttle, watched from afar by [[Sky-Byte (RID)|Sky-Byte]] and Jhiaxus. The latter reveals that the loss has proved a theory of his—that for his future generations of clones to survive, the first generation of Transformers must be wiped out.
 
Back on [[Earth]], the Autobots report back to [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]], and Nightracer and Side Burn speak up for leniency in the case of [[Runabout (G1)|Runabout]] and [[Runamuck (G1)|Runamuck]]. As it turns out, Hi-Q has no interest in pressing charges anyway. They are interrupted by the arrival of [[Sizzle (G1)|Sizzle]], who has had another of his visions of the future, and warns them that the "[[Machine Wars (event)|Machine Wars]]" are coming...

The situation on Qre comes to a head as the Autobots battle Jhiaxus's forces.

Synopsis

With the Autobots free, the Firecons rush forth to stop them, but Windbreaker knocks them back with his wind abilities. Pyro and Jhiaxus begin to spar. Aquafend attempts to help him out, but Pyro precognitive senses reveal that Hi-Q inside him. Aquafend hesitates, and Jhiaxus grabs the Autobot, mocking him for valuing a Nebulon's life over his own. Blaze lets loose with his abilities, knocking the Sharkticons offline with a shot that ricochets into various important components of the base before finally striking Jhiaxus' head. His chest panels opening as he falls unconscious, Pyro grabs Hi-Q, and the Autobots evacuate as the lab equipment begins to explode. Unfortunately, Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Mirage stop them before they can reach their ship.
