When the Functionist Council transported Cybertron over from the Functionist Universe, the crew of the Lost Light came up with a plan to create twelve Matrixes — one for each of the planet's hot spots — in order to overload Vector Sigma and destroy the Council. Appropriately enough, it was Tailgate who was assigned to Rivets Field, along with Cyclonus, who wasted no time getting to grips with the Council's Functionaries. After hearing an inspirational speech from Rodimus, Tailgate was able to open the Matrix, using its energies to overload the Vector Sigma chamber and destroying the Functionist Council.
