The technology was invented by Brainstorm. A slow cell containing Overlord was attached to the bottom of the Lost Light prior to its launch, in the hope that Drift would be able to talk Chromedome into performing mnemosurgery on the Decepticon to discover the secret of making Phase Sixers. After Rewind had a near-death experience, Chromedome entered the slow cell without telling anyone, and ventured into Overlord's mind.
