It's Magnus versus Magnus on Classicsverse Earth as Ultra Magnus's scheme comes closer to fruition!

Synopsis

As Grimlock and Galvatron prepare to head off for Shatteredverse Earth, Galvatron and Ultra Mammoth wish each other luck as Galvatron expresses gratitude for Grimlock's presence aboard the Annex. After Mammoth clarifies that Grimlock does what he wants, Silverbolt, Ironhide, and Prowl approach Mammoth in their new bodies. Now prepared, the four head to the stellar spanner, where they are greeted by Stonecruncher and Excavator - who make some uneasy comments on the operational status of the stellar spanner. Despite this, the stellar spanner activates and the foursome are sent to Classicsverse Earth! They arrive in the midst of a battle between the evil Magnus's Autobots, who are facing off against Treadshot's Decepticons and several Classicsverse Autobots. Treadshot himself has engaged in battle against Magnus, and when pressed for explanation he states that he couldn't let the Shatteredverse Autobots slip away again, and that he would never take orders from someone named "Ultra Magnus". Mammoth corrects him on the name, jumping into the fray against his evil double. Treadshot is soon knocked out of the fight, resulting in the fight being solely Magnus versus Mammoth! While they banter about name puns and authority problems, Magnus is soon able to knock Mammoth down, and explains the purpose of the Collector. Calling his double sick, and expressing that he had hope that he could fix Magnus's evil ways, Mammoth powers up his Matrix Cannon, and is able to force Magnus to his knees with the weapon. Hesitating to kill himself - even an evil version of himself, Magnus uses his hesitation to slice his cannon in half, and tearing open his chest cavity. Preparing to stab Mammoth, and expressing desire to regain his face, his Terminus Blade reacts with the Origin Matrix just before he delivers the killing blow, illuminating both of the Magnuses and sending raw energy hurtling into Magnus, causing him to cry out in pain...

Continuity notes

  • Treadshot's hatred of his universe's Ultra Magnus was first seen in "Invasion".

Transformers references

  • Scoop and Warpath have been rebuilt into their Generations toy bodies since the events of "Invasion". Meanwhile, Silverbolt's new vehicular form is his Generations Combiner Wars toy.
  • Prowl and Ironhide, on the other hand, now sport designs borrowed from their Animated counterparts, tweaked somewhat for a G1 aesthetic. Prowl takes the preliminary design seen here at left and renders it in the finalized black-and-gold color scheme whilst Ironhide uses his Animated counterpart's design from the cancelled fourth season.
  • Shattered Glass Stonecruncher was a Micromaster in all his previous appearances but looks to be a full-sized Decepticon in this story. His entirely new body, separation from "Team Astrotrain", and new job, partner, and specialty call into question whether this is the same Stonecruncher or another Decepticon with the same name.
