Manthei grew up in Minnesota, and played the piano in his youth and the trumpet in high school. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition. He also studied at the University of Southern California under Jerry Goldsmith. Kevin Manthei (born 1970 in Maplewood, Minnesota) is a music composer for film and television. Some of his other work includes scoring on the Scream film series, Invader Zim, Generator Rex, Ultimate Spider-Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, and many video games. Along with Kevin Kiner, he composes music for the 2015 Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon.
