Velgrox are aliens from the Rescue Bots cartoon portion of the Aligned continuity family.
"Captain's log, stardate 2016."

The Velgrox are a violent alien race who place great value on the importance of a good meal. This wouldn't be so bad if their favourite dish didn't consist of other sentient organisms. Velgrox hunters wield web-based weaponry, snaring their targets and bringing them back to their ship. There, the prey is held, sometimes for days, until the Velgrox consume it.

While Transformers and their metallic physiology have little to fear from a Velgrox raiding party, squishier organic beings such as humans aren't quite as lucky...

The Velgrox and Cybertronians had come into conflict with one another in the past.

Passing through the Solar System, a ship of Velgrox intercepted a transmission from Cody Burns and Frankie Greene, alerting them to the presence of food on Earth. The aliens landed their ship on Griffin Rock and set about capturing as many humans as possible. Meanwhile, the rest of the Velgrox crew set their ship down at Griffin Rock's power plant, intending to refuel their ship and conquer the rest of the planet.

The Velgrox abducted a good deal of the island's population until the Rescue Bots intervened. Believing that Earth was controlled by Cybertronians, the leader of the Velgrox immediately surrendered. Denied the opportunity to refuel or take their captives along, the Velgrox departed, and Boulder sabotaged their guidance system so that the aliens would never be able to find Earth again. Sometime in the past, a Velgrox was captured by the Quintessons to be a part of the new Judge.

To fuel his metamorphosis, the Quintessons began draining the energon of both the Cybertronian race and the AllSpark once they conquered the metallic planet. Working together, the Autobots and Decepticons managed to destroy the Quintesson ship whereupon Starscream made his dramatic return, declaring his race to be guilty. Using his newfound powers on his foes, Starscream, the final part of his metamorphosis, prolonged the Transformers' trial, and repainting the Prosectuors and Sharkticons in his colours, wanting both Optimus Prime and Megatron present so they could stand trial for all their wrongdoings towards him.

Holding the assembled members of his species prisoner, Starscream ranted to them about the injustices that they had inflicted on him over the course of his life before he demanded Prime and Megatron's locations. As one, the Cybertronians gave him contradictory information prompting him to take Arcee as a hostage, threatening to kill her. Before he could make good on this, Windblade awoke the War Titan Iaconus.

Though Starscream panicked, the Scientist calmly called in the brainwashed Croaton to deal with Iaconus, even if the War Titan proved able to punt Starscream across the horizon. When the new Judge returned to the battlefield, Croaton was on the verge of defeat, forcing Starscream to kill Iaconus by dumping some unspace matter on his head.

Ordering Coraton to annihilate Iacon and every Transformer in it, Starscream finally found Optimus Prime. Before Starscream could pass his judgment on the Prime however, Megatron returned aboard Astrotrain, attacking Starscream with exotic energy manipulation abilities that he'd gained while in another reality. After Croaton left the battlefield, his mind freed by Windblade, Starscream attempted to attack Astrotrain personally before both Prime and Megatron, having stolen one from another universe, unleashed the power of two Matrices of Leadership on the rogue Seeker, overwhelming him and bringing his reign of terror to an end, the Velgrox perishing with him.

His head, as depicted from his time as a Quintesson Judge, was eventually recovered at some point following the downfall of the Quintessons by Meteorfire and stored among his alien memorabilia.

Trivia

  • The Velgrox have their own alien language and need to use translators to be able to speak English... which is pretty weird; usually in Transformers fiction, all aliens just conveniently happen to speak English.
    • They also appear to make guinea pig-like noises when speaking casually.
  • For some reason, these guys know what ketchup is.
