Aboard the bus transporting the Autobot Pretenders and their allies, Vroom is having trouble wrapping his mind around the identity of their guest: Megatron. Metalhawk is similarly skeptical, not believing that any Megatron would flee while his troops died, but Megatron believes himself to be a survivor: the last of the Decepticons, compelled to survive so that the Decepticon culture does.
Riding a bus back to Merida, Vroom is still incredulous at the revelation of this universe's Megatron. Metalhawk accuses the former Decepticon leader of being a coward, but Megatron grimly claims that he is a survivor. On New Cybertron in the Shattered Glass universe, leaders of the heroic Autobots and Decepticons review the status of their foes, while Grimlock is approached by the Acolytes of Unicron, whom he has asked to see. What Grimlock really wants is to see Gaea, which the Acolytes claim to be impossible; but some "persuasive tactics" from the Dinobot result in him being brought in for an audience with the deity, within the planet. Grimlock has seen what the humanity inspires in "lovey-dovey" Autobots like Ultra Mammoth, and wants to know what Gaea did with the humans, thinking that the Autobots and Decepticons of New Cybertron now need them; but Gaea disagrees, seeing that their universe has a bright future. The same cannot be said of the universe that she sent the humans to, however; though she believed the Cybertronians of that reality were few enough that humanity would be safe, she was wrong, and now their Earth has become a target. As such, it will be up to the Pretenders to defend humanity as the guardians they were trained to be...

Grimlock, watching over the meeting, is greeted by the Acolytes of Unicron, having been requested by the Dinobot. Grimlock angrily demands that the three take him to see Gaea, despite their protests. At the core, Grimlock explains that he knows that Gaea had sent the humans to another dimension to keep them safe, and insists that they need them once more, believing that only with them can New Cybertron stay down the right path. Gaea, however, explains that while the humans helped prevent Grimlock's group of Cybertronians from heading down a dark path, that this Cybertron is, at last, coming to a proper balance; all that remains are a few straggling clouds. Gaea then explains that, in the universe she sent the humans too, Homo sapiens never evolved. The war for Cybertron continued without them, and having detected the planet's surface as barren, with few remaining Cybertronians left, she believed that they would be safe there...but this was not the case. Gaea explains to a shocked Grimlock that, in order to protect humanity, she sent the Autobot Pretenders with them, having been trained to be the guardians Earth needs by their previous experiences...

As Megatron insists that the Pretenders help him to fight their foe, a blast of energy sends their bus toppling off the bridge it is on and into the Parque Zoologico de Merida. Spike, Elizabeth and the Pretenders jump into action to try and get the humans on the bus medical attention, but Megatron sees that they have a bigger problem: Thunder Mayhem has arrived, and is destroying the bridges around the area! The Pretenders suit up to engage with their foe, while Elizabeth phones the local authorities to notify them of the emerging situation. Spike manages to evacuate the bus, but while getting a child and his father out, the wreckage slips and falls into the pit below along with Spike and the humans; their lives are saved at the last minute, however, when Garry the gorilla leaps to their rescue, leaving the humans to marvel at their savior!
Back on this alternate Earth, Megatron tells the Autobots that, when the time comes, the Pretenders will need to be ready to protect humanity. Unfortunately, that time is now, as a laser blast strikes the bus, knocking it off of the overpass. Falling into the Parque Zoologico de Merida, the Autobots, Spike, and Elizabeth help the other passengers get out the bus, as Megatron points towards the source of the blast, the thing he has been running from: the ultimate combiner, Thunder Mayhem! The Autobots shed there disguises to engage the massive Decepticon, leaving Spike and Elizabeth behind to help get out the remaining passengers. Unable to get through to the emergency services phonelines, Elizabeth calls the personal number of the detective from earlier. Meanwhile, Spike helps out the last few passengers; only two more are left on board, but as Spike tries to help them get off, the bus tips over into the gorilla exhibit. The three plummet to the ground...only for Garry the Gorilla to leap to their rescue, much to the shock of Spike!

Synopsis

Riding a bus back to Merida, Vroom is still incredulous at the revelation of this universe's Megatron. Metalhawk accuses the former Decepticon leader of being a coward, but Megatron grimly claims that he is a survivor. He may very well be the last "true" Decepticon in his universe, and in his eyes, he must stay alive to keep the Decepticon culture alive, though Metalhawk has his doubts...

Meanwhile, back on New Cybertron in the "Shatteredverse", Galvatron, Nova Prime, and Ultra Mammoth go over reports on potential renewed threats to the populace from Megatron and Rodimus.
