  • Rescue Roy (Ultra 1-2-3 Transformer, 2001)
The first toy in the short-lived Tonka 1-2-3 Transformers toyline, Rescue Roy is a massive firetruck with electronic lights and sounds. In truck mode, he has twin "ladders", each with an adjustable (non-firing) water cannon on top. Pressing the rectangular button behind his cab activates his headlights, a horn sound followed by sirens and flashing emergency lights, and the occasional "This is Rescue Roy! Let's go to robot mode!"
Transformation into robot mode is simple with a bit of autotransformation in the torso, but still needs to follow a set order. Pulling the emergency flasher on his right shoulder outward pops his robot head up (you can also do this in truck mode if you're feeling punchy), accompanied by his headlamps and eyes lighting up, and one of several randomized awesomely bombastic phrases (often accompanied by a horn or sirens):
  • "When danger calls, I answer with action!"
  • "We're a tough, two-man team!"
  • "Let's save the day, in a big way!"
  • "You're the real hero, partner!"
  • "Chief! Prepare the water cannons!"
  • "We'll blast the red stuff with the wet stuff!"
Once in robot mode, pressing the big round button on his backpack pops out a pair of flight wings, with a mighty cry of "Let's take to the air!" followed by roaring jet sounds and flashing lights.
If none of his electronics are activated for a while, Rescue Roy will automatically turn off with a final phrase "Rescue Roy 1, signing off!". You can also prevent accidentally turning him on with a little black ON/OFF switch at the bottom of his backpack. Rescue Roy runs on three AAA batteries.
In Japan, Roy was slightly redecoed (and had his electronics removed) upon his release in Japan as simply "Roy".
