Atari, Inc is a video game publisher and developer originally founded in 1972. Their Atari 2600 system was one of the first dedicated game consoles and helped popularize cartridge gaming during the medium's early days. Through a complicated path of mergers and acquisitions, including Hasbro Interactive at one point, the company is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the French Atari, SA corporation (formerly Infogrames.)
