Toys

Robots in Disguise (2001)

  • Prowl 2 & Side Swipe (Basic 2-pack, 2001)
    • Accessories: Rifle
Available in the second wave of Robots in Disguise "Basics", Side Swipe transforms into a modified Chevrolet Camaro with exposed engine block. He has through-axle construction to allow for super-fast rolling in car mode. Like his fellow "new"-mold teammates, his rifle stores under his car mode. He was available in a two-pack with Prowl 2.
The copyright information printed on the joint connecting the chest to the body prevents the former from swinging down all the way.
This mold was used to make Universe Silverstreak.

  • Side Swipe (Tiny Tins, 2001)
    • Accessories: Rifle, storage tin
Side Swipe was one of several Robots in Disguise toys to be released as an individual in a Tiny Tins release, with a pocket-sized carrying case. The actual toy is unchanged from the two-pack version.

Notes

  • Side Swipe was the first official release of a mold originally intended to be released as part of the Generation 2 Go-Bots sub-line. Owing to the name printed on the front bumper, the original identity of the mold appears to have been Rumble.
  • Though the toy shares its origins with and is packed like the Hasbro releases of the Spy Changers, he has never been officially labeled as a member of that team.
    • Ask Vector Prime once described the world Viron 1103.12 Gamma where all thirteen Autobots fighting on Earth were Spy Changers. There were exactly thirteen Autobot Spy Changers identified in the Robots in Disguise line, including Side Swipe, although he was not mentioned by name.
