The Omega Guardians are an advanced, enigmatic civilization from Ki-Aleta known for policing access to the "Higher Realms".

Fiction

2005 IDW continuity

According to Agonizer, the Omega Guardians were born in or on Sh'an Sh'an Terre. An Axe to Break the Ice

At least twelve million years ago, the Omega Guardians supposedly constructed the Mederi facility, a euthanasia clinic that allowed the terminally ill to die in a state of euphoria in the forms of complex illusions generated by a group of telepathic aliens. The facility's power source was protected by the aliens' distinctive statue-esque drones. You Are Here

Before the Great War, Senator Shockwave was said to be on speaking terms with the Omega Guardians. An Intimate Beheading The Omega Guardians were in possession of the Magnificence, an artifact that Shockwave came to believe was in fact one of the Knights of Cybertron, one who had such a passion for knowledge that he had remained on Ki-Aleta to study alongside the Guardians. When the Omega Guardians later departed this world and ascended to the Higher Realms themselves, they were unable to take any other races with them, and, hinting at some truth to Shockwave's theory, left the Magnificence behind. The Ties That Bind

Under unknown circumstances, the Guardians decided to return to the three dimensional universe where they planned to "eat everything". One of their number tried to return via a small crack between universes in the Benzene Cluster, the strain killing the Guardian and turning their four-dimensional corpse into the Warren. Needing a planet sized explosion to expand the opening, the Guardians began manipulating the Grand Architect's plans to see their own objective brought to light. The Unremembering

The Omega Guardians left the Magnificence in the Omega Bunker to be protected by the statue-like guardians that would come alive and attack anyone who attempted to steal the artifact. A small team of Autobots led by Hot Rod was confronted by these statues when they tried to retrieve the Magnificence before the Decepticons did. They initially distracted the guardians with holomatter copies of themselves, but were discovered when their holomatter generator suddenly exploded. Both Download and Gizmo subsequently lost their lives to the guardians, but Hot Rod made it off with the Magnificence. Spotlight: Hot Rod When Hot Rod and Dealer returned to the Omega Bunker many years later however, the Guardians were nowhere to be seen. Spotlight: Doubledealer

In 2016, the Guardians possessed Ten to have him guide Team Rodimus to Mederi via the Warren while also teleporting Taligate to the artificial moon. In 2018, they had the Magnificence give the Scavengers the coordinates for Mederi instead of Garrus-9. Sardines Kill All 'Cons The Unremembering

Mederi presented itself to the Autobots as the Afterspark, with Rodimus making a failed plea to the "Guiding Hand" for resurrection. Shortly afterwards, he, Drift and Ratchet made their way to a temple where they found the telepathic aliens and were confronted by the drones. The God War After defeating the drones (who fell noticeably easier than the ones on Ki-Aleta), the Autobots shattered the illusion and realized the truth of where they were. You Are Here

When the Lost Light crew brainstormed ways to destroy the Functionist Council's Primus avatar, the Guardians spoke through the Magnificence to suggest exploiting Rossum's Trinity and simply destroying the transformed planet. Refusing to condemn Cybertron's innocents to death, the crew instead hit on a plan to exploit Vector Sigma's connections to the planet's hot spots. The Guardians flew into a rage at the plan, unleashing powerful bolts of energy before monologuing about what was supposed to happen. Megatron swore to stop them, but the Guardians scoffed at the idea that the ex-Decepticon could possibly do so... distracting them just long enough for Nickel to simply smash the Magnificence and shut them up.
