When things mysteriously start to get damaged around the Academy, Hoist investigates. But when the evidence points to a Dinobot culprit, the whole case becomes much more personal.

Synopsis

As Tough Luck Chuck plays victim on the side of a volcano, the recruits head in to rescue him. Hoist extends a cable so Hot Shot can slide down it and retrieve Chuck, but lava causes Hoist to yank his cable free and the recruits end the sim. Hoist admits he's been feeling tired because of his new Dinobot alternate mode, and his botched repair of Chuck has the other recruits suggesting he take a rest. Sludge and Snarl later find Hoist repairing Laserbeak, but he throws them out of the lab when they start bumping into things. Grimlock, who happens to be passing by, notes Hoist's mood and orders him to get some rest. Hoist hops into a stasis pod to rest.

Someone enters the lab and messes up the place. Wedge greets Hoist when he wakes, but Hoist is actually feeling worse. Finding his lab in disarray, Hoist blames Laserbeak, but Grimlock says he needs proof before they eject the Decepticon from the Academy. Hoist consults Whirl who helps him narrow down the possible suspects. They interrogate Laserbeak, but realize the 'Con's claw marks don't match anything in the lab. Sludge and Snarl storm out of their interrogation, so the two investigators are down to their last suspect, Chuck, who's still too in need of repair to be the culprit. Hoist heads back to his stasis pod for some more rest.

Someone enters Grimlock's office which Hoist and Whirl have been using for their investigation and messes everything up. Hoist again wakes up tired. He finds Whirl inspecting the mess, and the pair conclude from the size of the scratch marks that the culprit was a Dinobot. Sludge and Snarl are "completing" the obstacle course when Grimlock and the two recruits find them, but the pair continue to deny responsibility even as Grimlock sentences them to man a remote outpost. Hoist is dissatisfied and takes another look at the evidence he and Whirl gathered, telling his fellow recruit he's less sure of their conclusion. Whirl suggests he get some rest.

Hoist wakes up to find the living quarters in disarray and realizes it can't have been Sludge and Snarl as they're already gone. He calls the Dinobots back and reveals he's realized the guilty party is himself. His malfunctioning stasis pod cause him to "sleep stomp" in Dinobot mode, causing the damage. The Dinobots accept his apology, though Sludge's assertion that they don't cause trouble is undermined by him almost knocking over the status of Optimus Prime.
